Upcoming Events
Introduce A Girl To Engineering
Our 17th Introduce A Girl to Engineering event will held Saturday March 18, 2017 at the USC Campus Aiken Ruth Patrick Center. If you are interested in volunteering, please contact Jane Carter at jane.carter@srs.gov.
Tour of the Salt Waste Processing Facility (SWPF) on the Savannah River Site
There will be a tour of the SWPF on April 21st, 2017 (Friday Afternoon).
Attendees will meet at the Savannah River Site Badging office at 1PM.
This facility, which was declared construction complete in April 2016 is in testing stage. It received the South Carolina ASCE Section ‘project of the year’ award in June 2016.
If you already have a Site badge, please meet us at badging so we can car pool out (with Badged drivers)
After the short badging process, the attendees will travel to J Area (about 15 min drive). At that time, there will be a short orientation and safety briefing. The group will then be divided up in small groups to physically walk the facility, and then to visit the Simulator (computerized control room controls). Total time is anticipated to be 90 min at the facility. Closed toed shoes, long pants and tops that cover upper arm (e.g. no Tank Tops) are required.
More information and sign-up (10 days in advance) will follow.
